Finally, they've invented a ray-gun. Next up, light sabres...

If you haven't spotted this in the news yet, take a look... LiveScience.com - Military Shows Off New Ray Gun : " Military Shows Off New Ray Gun By Elliott Minor Associated Press posted: 25 January 2007 10:59 am ET MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. (AP) — The military calls its new weapon an “active denial system,'' but that's an understatement. It's a ray gun that shoots a beam that makes people feel as if they are about to catch fire."

méprisant's collection of Portable software

méprisant has a fantastic list of Portable software. Portable software is "portable" for many people because you can stick it on a USB stick. I personally run lots of portable programs on my PC so that I can easily move them to another PC without worrying about registry settings etc. méprisant: Portable USB Software : A Melange Part Deux

Tag2Find : OS Level Tagging (on méprisant)

Tag2Find lets you tag all your files - images, docs, music etc - and then search files by tag. Here's méprisant's comments: "All of us understand the benefits of tagging. Gmail calls tags labels. Flickr uses them, as does every other Web 2.0 startup. Tag2Find brings tagging to the operating system itself. As far as I know, every file can be tagged. Tag2Find stores the tag with the file itself, and in an internal database. Files retain their tags, come what may (presuming of course that they are not deleted)." Tag2Find : OS Level Tagging

Want a (private) online wiki? You got it!

tiddlyspot lets you make your own online wiki. You can also make it private if you want. Superb. I was looking for exactly this. I first came across TiddlyWiki , which lets you download and customize an html file into your own personal single-file wiki. Fun, but I wanted something online. tiddlyspot is based on TiddlyWiki, so you get the best of TiddlyWiki but then online. Oh yeah, you can also download your tiddlyspot wiki locally of course...
