Turn on digital audio (Win98)

Digital audio can also be switched on via Device Manager. You can get there as follows:
  1. On the desktop right-click the My Computer icon.
  2. Then select Properties.
  3. Now click on the Device Manager tab. One of the items in the list should be called "CDROM" or something similar (see the picture)

  1. Next click on the + sign next to the CDROM item. It will open up and you should see your CD-ROM drive (not sure exactly what it will be called)
  2. Right-click the CD-ROM drive for which you want to enable digital playback (e.g. in the picture above, you would right-click the one called 52X CD-ROM)
  3. Then select Properties
  4. In the Properties window click the tab called Properties. At the bottom there's a little tick-box that says Enable digital CD audio for this CD-ROM device.
  5. Tick this box, click OK, and close everything, and digital playback should work.
